Did this a while back. I was really bored so I just started messing around with photoshop. Actually I do that often. I think I'm gonna start posting these types of pictures because this was actually gonna be the original goal of this blog.

Me and Zoloft Get Along Just Fine

Shortly after releasing my favorite album of 2007, Dance Gavin Dance dropped their singer Jonny Craig. They shortly replaced him with Kurt Travis and went into the studio to record their sophomore album. I really like this video and their new material but I really miss their old singer (who is now in Emarosa). Well, both of their old vocalists since their screamer Jonathan Mess had to leave due to a medical condition. I know Will is a great guy but since I know his voice isn't the one on the video, his parts look a bit out of place for me. I guess I just miss all their old members since only Will and their drummer were on the first record. Don't you just hate that, when you really like a band but they just can't seem to stay together? I mean, sheesh, two vocalists, a guitarist and the bassist all left the band in like an 8 month time-span. They're still pretty cool guys so I'll end my rant here. Anyways, the video is beautiful so without further ado, here it is.

Well, I gotta go study for finals and finish my research paper.
Goodbye.

12.04.2008

skate.

This video is amazing. It's crazy what recording at 120 frames per second can do to a couple clips of guys skateboarding, it just makes everything so much cooler. This video just makes me want to go out and skate but instead I am in here working on a dumb research paper. 6 more pages to goooooo....

This video looks even better in HD.

soooooo....

These last couple of days have been great. I really enjoyed this well-deserved break. I got to hang with my main buds, got to see some other friends I hadn't seen in a couple of months, hung out with the family, and I got to laugh a lot. Funny how simple things like laughter can really make your day. Lately I had been swamped with homework and these couple of days off were a much-welcomed change of pace.

Anyways, a week back I went to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. This is like the bijillionth time going but I always enjoy that museum. Just seeing all the new exhibits really inspires me to create something. It just really makes me want to create my own art. I really enjoyed the Vanity Fair photography exhibit. They had some really majestic photographs. These are just some pics I took of things I found interesting.

Now I have to catch up on all the homework I was supposed to do these past couple of days. Goodbye.

11.26.2008

hahaha

So Double-O from Kidz in the Hall pointed out an astute similarity between the gummy bear song and Yeezy's "Love Lockdown" via Murs' kyte player.

Did Kanye jack the melody from this song?
You decide.

11.09.2008

It's nothing to hide, you wear them with pride. And If you got them, then you gotta swing them side to side

I want some dreadlocks.
But some cool ones.
Like not long but not short.
I dunno, I don't want no Basquiat dreads or some Lenny Kravitz dreads. Or some hyphy bay area shits. Or some Mr.Lif dreads.(ewww)
I guess the ideal dreads would be some Zack De La Rocha dreads. But tied in the back.
I guess dreads are a big thing, you can't half ass them
So basically no to this:

Yes to this:

But I don't think I could pull them off.
I would just look too weird with them.
Never mind, I don't want dreads.

About to head out to hang with my niggas.
Goodbye.

11.06.2008

wtf

I was on myspace yesterday and I saw this ad.

Tighttttt.
About time some good music gets advertised on myspace.

I gotta admit though that I kinda dig his new song. Shit is hilarious.
Turn my swag onnnnnnnn......

Oh did you guys hear what he said about slave masters?
I kinda feel embarrassed for him.

But then, not really.
Well I gotta go, my room reeks of swag now. Bout to turn the swag off a bit.

I hate being sick.
I hate long lines.
I hate taking tests.
I hate being st00pid and awkward and not saying the right things.
I hate a lot of things.

One thing I don't hate is

I hope Obama wins. If he doesn't win, I'm sure a lot of people would be pissed.
Really pissed. If people get pissed off enough, I think I'll be hitting up the "sales" at Guitar Center and Supreme, the Hundreds, and Alife on Fairfax. I'll also try to stop by Best Buy to pick up a couple things.
100% off yo!

Hahahaha, I wouldn't do that.

Or would I?

hahaha, peace out.

11.01.2008

It's the first of the monthhhhhhhh

Can you believe it's already November?
Crazy how time flies.

I had quite the adventure last night.
Well, what I can remember from it.
All I can recall was going to Amanda's house for the party, loud music, alcohol, an angel, a nurse, some more alcohol, Wonderwoman, Christian Bale drinking brewskies right next to me,a police woman, 12 trips to the bathroom, the REAL cops, drama, vomit, drama, funny ass Amanda, a stranger's car, the Chronic 2001, and then home. I had a great time.
Queen Mary tonight! Woohoo!

Oh yeah, almost forgot.

10.31.2008

Halloween.

For the last couple of hours I've been watching the Goosebumps marathon on Cartoon Network. Man, that show is actually pretty good. I can't believe I used to be scared of it when I was little, it's actually pretty captivating. The one I'm watching right now has Hayden Christensen in it, and his uncle in the show looks like my old english teacher Mr.Smith.

About to head off to a costume party, I hope it doesn't rain.
Next year I want to go trick or treating. But somewhere nice like Hollywood or Palo$ Verde$. I hear they give out crazy treats there. I hope I'm not too old next year. I remember being little and seeing the older kids trick-or-treating and thinking they were pretty lame for trying to steal my candy. Well, Ill end it here, Goosebumps is back on.

10.28.2008

sick day

How ironic is it that I get an allergic reaction after using a prescription strength acne medication?
FUCK.

So I took some benadryl yesterday at around 6 o'clock. Soon after I took a nap and I barely woke up right now.

Anyways, today is free taco day at Taco Bell.
Check it out.

Someone go get me some tacos, I can't go out in public!
I look like Elephant Man, and I'm not talking about the Jamaican rapper.

10.26.2008

Massive Weekend?

I went to Monster Massive yesterday with the friends. I had a great time. Crazy night/morning. Lots of fun.

Today I have to finish my marriage essay, study for a math test, and finish my drawing mid-term.
Not really excited for this.

People Under the Stairs- The Wiz

I love everything about this song.
It's off their new album "Fun DMC". I can just lay back and relax when I hear any of their songs, it's kinda therapeutic. I suggest you get it, one of the best albums of the year.
Check out their myspace.

10.21.2008

Buy for me.

These are included in the new Air Jordan Countdown Pack. They come alongside the all black Jordan XX's but those are hideous.

Heck, I'd be happy with just the old red colorway.

Pleaseeee?

Stable Patients- "The Audio Canal"

Stable Patients is a progressive/experimental band from Southern California.
I've had the vocal-less version of this song for a couple of months and I was stoked to find out that they had released a video with vocals for this song.

10.11.2008

windy day

Yesss!
I love cold weather.
I went out skating today and it was actually a bit chilly. I have to practice because yesterday some little kid challenged me to a game of skate. He put this little front saying that he couldn't skate and that he sucked and all that shit, so when he asked me , I was like "I don't want to embarrass this sucker", but I accepted anyways.

So we start and then this little bitch starts busting tre flips, and I'm like "what the fuck!". I couldn't even land anything and when I managed to finally nail an ugly-ass varial kickflip, this motherfucker lands a perfect one. He dominated me completely. He's pulling out nollie heelflips and the best I could do was a nollie 180. The end result:

lying ass bitch: S
Carlos: S-K-A-T-E

I am in dire need of skills.

10.07.2008

weird day.

Today was a pretty weird day. It started off like any other normal Tuesday. I woke up, went to school, went to my classes, checked out the transfer fair, then got ready to go home. As I'm leaving I see the homie Jon. He tells me that Keek was gonna krump battle some dude during lunch at Narbonne and if I wanted to go. So I say that I would check it out. Right when I get home, I meet up with Keek, Kevin and their friend Vince. We drive over to Vince's house to pick up some speakers, then to the barbershop so that Kevin can get his hair cut, and then finally over to Narbonne. There we met up with Jon and Kahana and wait for the Hip-hop club teacher to let us into campus. It felt weird going back to Narbonne. It seemed like everything changed. There's all these little kids running around, some construction, and the table where I used to hang out is filled with a whole bunch of little girls. It's kind of bitter-sweet because it's the school that I used to go to and know so well, but it's all different you know? I felt so out of place.

So then the battle goes down. Keek kills the little kid. Kevin goes off. Vince goes off. Good times. Lunch ends and we get ready to pack up the shit. We say goodbye to Keek since he was kinda late for his class over at Long Beach. By the time we finish packing up the equipment, (Somewhere around this time I lose track of Kevin and Vince) class had started so we couldn't leave school until the end of the period. So we chill in B10 for a while. The bell rings. We say goodbye to Jon and then Kahana and I head towards the bus. I jump on the bus, (Some where around this time I lose Kahana) and to my surprise I see Doug and some other friends in there. Crazy! I miss all of my acadec buds.

So that has been my day so far. Pretty eventful because if I hadn't seen Jon, I would have probably gotten home and napped for like 10 hours straight. Now I gotta clean my room, read Jhumpa Lahiri's Interpreter of Maladies, work on my essay on the Elgin Marbles, and do stooopid math homework. Goodbye.

10.05.2008

cool!!!!!!!!!

This is amazing.

10.03.2008

friday night

I just finished watching the N.W.A documentary on VH1. Shit, they were revolutionary. It was a really good program on the "World's Most Dangerous Group". Now I'm on Itunes listening to all their bangers. Good night.

10.02.2008

random post

Some dude got shot outside my house today.
It's weird because I usually take out the trash, but I was taking a nap so my Mom did it for me today. When I woke up, there's cops outside so I asked my mom what happened. Turns out when she was taking out the trash, she saw some dudes running. Couple moments later, cops show up, stop some other dude, around my age, maybe younger. Turns out this dude had a gun or some shit.
I don't want to get into details since I'm a strict follower of the Cam'ron code, but fuck, I could have been out there when that happened. Imagine that. It sure would have made my day a lot more interesting. I haven't seen some "COPS" shit go down since August when a cop started yelling at some bald headed Mexican dude wearing baggy jeans standing right next to me on the corner. Poor dude had to go through the whole "put your hands where I can see them" routine in front of some chick he was trying to impress. Good thing I had my 511 levi's and George Clooney Caesar on that day, or I would have been fondled like a bitch.

Murs for President

I've been waiting on this album forever!
MURS a.k.a Making Underground Raw Shit, finally comes through with his much anticipated major label debut. Longtime fans may not like the move to a major label, might call him a sellout, they might complain that he's all over MTV and Myspace, but c'mon, this man deserves it. It's about time the masses got a real hip-hop artist.

As for the music, it's no 3:16 the 9th edition, but it's close. For me, the best major label hip-hop album since Lupe Fiasco's The Cool. Overall best hip hop album since Sweet Lord two months ago. Hahahah, just kidding, Johnson and Jonson destroys. I've heard people complain about the Will.I.Am track but hey, let the man have some fun and try something else for a change. Nothing to complain about, MURS always comes correct.

BUY this album. You won't regret it.
Not 100% percent sure? Listen to it for free on his myspace.

Kid Sister- Family Reunion (feat. David Banner)

After nearly almost breaking mainstream with last year's "Control" and "Pro Nails", the Chicago native is back with her new single off of her upcoming album Dream Date. You can always count on Kid Sister to deliver fun lyrics over catchy beats and she doesn't disappoint.

Listen and download here.

Dream Date drops November 4th.

U-N-I- Yesterday

Ima hit you up with some more L.A. hip-hop.
This time it's by U-N-I. They recently won Breakout L.A. Artist on Mtv or something like that. I've been on these guys since "K.R.E.A.M" came out last year and I haven't looked back.
This song is off of Dub Frequency’s Creme De La Creme mixtape.

Download the track here.

I must be Trippin'

I saw this movie today called Trippin'.
It was filmed at my old high school. I find it strange seeing a low budget teen comedy about finding yourself and true love take place at your own school. It's like, I could have been there in the background, you know, chillin with my boys while Donald Faison and Anthony Anderson run around. It's funny because I can definitely relate to the main character in this film. Weird shit.

9.18.2008

Mi Vida Loca, not so much.

I got home today and watched this whole movie on youtube.
Parts 1-10.

WTAPS "Red Dawn"

Japanese label WTAPS has released some images from their 2008 winter/fall line. You have to admire the attention to detail they put into every single one of their garments. I especially like the mouton vest, I don't know why, it has this sort of bad-ass aesthetic about it. And we all know that "bad-ass" is the first word that comes up when you think of me.

Check out the rest of the collection here.

Kanye West-Love Lockdown

This is the first single off of Kanye's new album 808's and Heartbreak. It was rumored that Kanye's album would be titled Good Ass Job but I guess those rumors were false. Love it or hate it, you gotta admire Kanye for going in a new direction. I for one can't wait to see what Yeezy has coming for us this time around.

Dream

Last night I had a crazy dream. I was in a big convenience store, i don't really know how to explain it, think of a Rite Aid, but it had really low shelves and it had huge windows all around. It was night. For some reason, a whole bunch of strangers and I lived in the rite-aid at night and we would hide during the day. One day, as the sun was about to rise, cops raided the store and I got shot for some reason. All the other people got away except for me. I remember when the cops busted in, the other people, who were somehow my friends, ran towards the cops and miraculously got away. I thought I did the smart thing by not running right at the 5-0, but instead I was the one who failed. I remember being on the floor as hundreds of cops rushed me. At first I was angry for being the only one caught, even though in my judgment I did the smart thing. Then I started laughing at the sheer silliness of the whole situation. There I was, in a weird ass rite-aid, as hundreds of officers circle me. ME. I was cracking jokes with the police as I was bleeding on the floor. Then all of a sudden, I started thinking about it and It wasn't so funny. I was about to be arrested and taken to jail. Everything now seemed so severe. A million things rushed through my head, thoughts of my life and the people I would miss. And then I realized it was a dream, and willingly woke myself up.

I don't know what that was all about, but I hope it isn't a sign of things to come.

Fuck, that's what I get for finishing my homework at 2:00 clock on a Monday morning.

Blu & Mainframe are: Johnson and Jonson

L.A. rapper Blu and producer Mainframe have joined forces to release their new album Johnson & Jonson.
After releasing one of the best hip hop albums ever alongside producer Exile, Blu has returned, this time with Mainframe behind the beats. If you haven't heard 2007's Below the Heavens, then get on it. In my opinion it was the most slept on album of the year and probably one of the best. It's great to see a sort of re-emergence of Los Angeles hip-hop. Between Blu, Murs' release later in the month, Ice Cube, Living Legends and others, the west coast is once again making it's mark in rap.

Check out Blu's myspace here.

Johnson & Jonson drops September 23rd.

Edward Colver

Edward Colver is a photographer from California. He is responsible for documenting the Los Angeles punk rock scene in the late 70's and early 80's. He is one of those photographers whose images you have seen countless of times yet had not realized it was his work. His work has been featured on over 250 album covers, including some of my personal favorites.

Recently, Reserve LA held an exhibition to celebrate Mr.Colver and his photographs, along with releasing a collabo line of t-shirts titled SPECIAL EDWARDCOLVERITION TEES.
Check out a few of the shirts.

I personally like the original version better but this one is not that bad.

First day of school.

Today was my first day at El Camino College. What can I say? It wasn't that bad. Classes seem pretty chill and I didn't even get lost. The only negative thing I can say about today is the heat. God damn it was hot. I feel kind of silly going to school in a tank top so I had to take a button up since all my t shirts were dirty.

Now I have to wash clothes.
And buy books.
And buy art supplies. (seriously, 6 fuckin different types of pencils?)
Oh,and work on my present and past tense.

Goodbye.

8.24.2008

I'm Ready.

It's Sunday and I just got home. I left at about 4:00 P.M. yesterday for Raul's birthday party, had a pretty crazy night, and went to a ton of stores today with the friends. The only thing is that I start college tomorrow and I am not prepared at all. I don't have any books, my school I.D, or supplies. I don't even have a backpack!

The weird thing is; I'm not stressing at all.

For a long time I stressed about everything. I'm serious, EVERYTHING. Every single decision in my life could only be carried out after many hours of contemplation, and even then I would still worry about all of the minute repercussions of my actions. I couldn't talk to a girl without first analyzing all the possible ways in which I could be rejected, humiliated, or embarrassed. Living my life like that has led me to a lot of regrets, but I think I'm ready to change all that. It's not that I'm being irresponsible, I just want to stop stressing out about things. I want to change the way I live. I want to go with the flow. I feel like I can still balance my priorities while letting go of all the things that worry me. So even though my first class starts in approximately 12 hours, and I don't have any idea what to expect, I'm not stressing.

Fuck it, I'm ready.

The Cool Kids- "Delivery Man"

This is a new song by the Chicago duo. I've been listening to this pair for about a year and a half now and I'm stoked to see what their full length "When Fish Ride Bicycles" has to offer.

For now I'll settle on their new single "Delivery Man" which you can download for free courtesy of Green Label Sounds.

MURS- Me and this Jawn

"Me and this Jawn" is the new track from Murs off of Murs for President.

False Start

This is officially my first post for this blog. Ignore the one prior to this one. Well if you read it in the first place, which you probably didn't. I will now use this blog to showcase my journey through this beautiful thing we call the "internet". So if I find anything "interesting", I will post it on here.

What does that mean?
That means you will probably be looking at tons of posts about underground hip hop artists, clothes I think look nice, youtube videos, and the occasional real life story. So if you like any of the things I am interested in, you are in luck my readers; all three of you.
I'm Carlos, a 19 year old design student from Torrance, California.
